Vilamoura Champions Tour - Week One

Jess Crofts

The team have been busy packing up and traveling to Portugal for the 2018 Vilamoura Champions Tour, and it has already been an amazing week for all the riders and horses.

On the first day of competition DLS collectively took 4 top twenty spots in the 130, all with great clear rounds. Louise and Chessy finished in 5th place, David and Liberty closely followed in 7th with Starouge and Fifa Paola then claiming 16th and 18th respectively.

Friday’s 130 class saw even more clear rounds from the whole team. Charlene Bastone jumped 7 year old Vegas, in his international debut, to a lovely clear, along with Louise and and Felix (who ended in 8th place) and David and Amigo. All three riders then jumped in the 140 where David and Liberty’s foot perfect round saw them take 3rd place, while Louise and Charlene gave him a run for his money with lovely clears on Starouge and Fifa Paola.

Even more clear rounds came on Saturday form Louise and Felix X, placing 8th, Charlene with Vegas and David with Rosalind Platt’s Amigo.

Louise took another placing with Chessy on Saturday in the ranking class and again with Felix in the 130. While Amigo and David added another clear round to their roster in the same class.

Yesterday Anya Jackson and Starfighter jumped a quick clear together to finish in 4th place, Amigo and David had ANOTHER clear round and Louise and Felix X jumped a lightening round but sadly had the least fence down in the 135.

Jensen and David have already jumped two Grand Prix classes this week and he is feeling better than ever. An unlucky pole in each class has kept them out of placings but David & Charlotte Platt’s Jenson is feeling like he’s on better form than ever with a lot left in the tank for the rest of the show.
