Clear for take-off — how to jump from the right spot every time
A phenomenal first week of jumping for Team DLS back again at Zilveren Spoor in Moorsele, Belgium.
There were so many highlights we're not sure where to start!
David took the victory the Longines Ranking class on Neil Torburns' mare Curly Sue with a fantastic and quick double clear.
Charlene Bastone beat both the bosses on Fyberlinus H, relegating Louise to 2nd place in the Friday Speed Class and knocking David off top spot in the 1m30 final on Saturday, giving DLS multiple 1-2's.
To round off the week DLS completely took over the the leader board in the Grand Prix with four horses in the top five. Louise emerged as the eventual winner with a fantastic round of jumping on First Colt jointly owned by A R A Equestrian and Breen Equestrian.
Many thanks to all the team this week, results like this don’t happen without some serious support. Long may it continue.
This week DLS were on the road again heading to Zilveren Spoor, Belgium.
Top result of the week saw Louise race ahead on Jaffar De Bourguignon in the 3* 1.35m speed class to take the win with an amazing 1.29 seconds to spare. David was hot on her heels but not quite able to catch her and instead took fourth on on Doctor Proctor.
Both had a great round over the 3* 1.35m two-phase, a class with 91 contending. David & Chessy 17 took 13th, just ahead of Louise in 14th on First Colt, who both also went double clear in the 1.40 to take 8th place.
A great week for DLS in Lier at the CSI2* event with both David and Louise claiming victories on Unex Cognac IV and Jaffar de Bourguinon respectively.
David & Cognac's win came on day one where they hit the ground running despite the wet weather and claimed victory in the 1.40m, qualifying for the Grand Prix. In a strong field of 64 riders, they took the lead by a nail-biting 0.28 seconds.
All horses were on top form, taking numerous top six placings between them.
David and his own Unex Cognac IV are off to a flying start in Belgium taking the win in the GP qualifier
The end of DLS' time in Dubai has now come to a close but it is safe to say that we have finished on a high.
Following selection for the Nations Cup at the Abu Dhabi CSIO5* David Simpson took to the Arena with Keoki and the pair put on a flawless performance. A double clear from the these two meant that Ireland (David, Shane Breen, Cameron Hanley & Paul Kennedy) secured second place at this fantastic show.
The foot perfect rounds from David meant that he could claim his share of the 50,000 bonus offered up by Longines to any riders to end the series with no faults. As one of only two riders' to achieve the feat everyone at DLS was over the moon to see David collect his prize alongside Samantha McIntosh.
