Louise and Jaffar de Bourguignon winning the 130

It’s been another week full of clear rounds for everyone at DLS, with many of the horses stepping up a level.

Louise and Jaffar were the stars of the week winning all three 130 classes on Friday, Saturday and Sunday - an unbelievable way for Lou to finish her last show with this super horse.

Star 5th in 7 year olds - Lou Pavitt.jpeg

It was lucky fifth again for Louise and Starouge kicking off the first day with a great clear to place in the 1.35m. The seven year old then showed us more of what he was made of with a double clear on Wednesday to secure a top ten spot. The combination came into their own in the final with an unbelievable double clear taking second place, just 0.64 seconds behind the winner.

David and The Jeweller started the show as they meant to go on, but a couple of time faults kept them out of the top spots

Vilamoura Champions Tour - Week One

Jess Crofts

The team have been busy packing up and traveling to Portugal for the 2018 Vilamoura Champions Tour, and it has already been an amazing week for all the riders and horses.

On the first day of competition DLS collectively took 4 top twenty spots in the 130, all with great clear rounds. Louise and Chessy finished in 5th place, David and Liberty closely followed in 7th with Starouge and Fifa Paola then claiming 16th and 18th respectively.

Friday’s 130 class saw even more clear rounds from the whole team. Charlene Bastone jumped 7 year old Vegas, in his international debut, to a lovely clear, along with Louise and and Felix (who ended in 8th place) and David and Amigo. All three riders then jumped in the 140 where David and Liberty’s foot perfect round saw them take 3rd place, while Louise and Charlene gave him a run for his money with lovely clears on Starouge and Fifa Paola.

Even more clear rounds came on Saturday form Louise and Felix X, placing 8th, Charlene with Vegas and David with Rosalind Platt’s Amigo.

Louise took another placing with Chessy on Saturday in the ranking class and again with Felix in the 130. While Amigo and David added another clear round to their roster in the same class.

Yesterday Anya Jackson and Starfighter jumped a quick clear together to finish in 4th place, Amigo and David had ANOTHER clear round and Louise and Felix X jumped a lightening round but sadly had the least fence down in the 135.

Jensen and David have already jumped two Grand Prix classes this week and he is feeling better than ever. An unlucky pole in each class has kept them out of placings but David & Charlotte Platt’s Jenson is feeling like he’s on better form than ever with a lot left in the tank for the rest of the show.

Lier CSI3*

Jess Crofts

Last week saw David, Louise and the team head back to Belgium for the CSI 3* in Lier.

Star and Louise qualified for the 7 year old championships on the second day with a lovely clear round, they did a great round in the final but sadly had one pole down knocking them out of contention for a placing.

Carlos and David started as they meant to go on with foot perfect rounds on the first two days and just a green mistake in the final of the 6 year olds resulting in four faults.

Chessy finished the show in the 1.50 with Louise and had just one pole down after a lovely clear round on the first day for the two of them in the 1.40.

Star of the show goes to Jenson 55 coming 2nd in the 3* Grand Prix, with one of only four clear rounds in the class.

Hickstead September show

Jess Crofts

DLS had a great week at one of our favourite venues Hickstead, for their final show of the season.

One highlight was Team 55s Jenson, coming 3rd in a huge 1m40 class in the main arena with David.

In the 7 year old Talent Seeker class, Louise came 6th with Starouge, Charlene was 10th on Diarados Black Diamond and David was 11th on Amigo SWB owned by Rosalind Platt. It was also great to have Fifa Paola back out who jumped well in this class with Charlene.

Ballon Cruise jumped some promising rounds in the 5 year olds with Charlene.

Team DLS are now heading out to Lier.

Jenson 55 & Liberty 348 both took to the 3* competition claining 3rd and 4th spot respectivly in the ranking class.

While some of the team were abroad the girls were looking after the horses a home and competing down the road at Pycombe. Charlene & Leaving Las Vegas had a great day winning the Ladies Championship at only their third show together. Our 5 year olds Balloon Cruise & Wyoming 19 both jumped great double clears, and Finn W gave a super round in the Grand Prix.  On top of this Charlene and Olivia won the pairs with Fyberlinus H and Funderella. Anya Jackson showed that she is  building a great partnership with new boy Mr Tornado.

The newest member of the tam, Antonia Platt, had her own success over the weekend  out in Le Touquet with MHS Patriot & G Star Blue jumping brilliant double clears everyday finishing 4th, 9th & 11th.

Leader Board.jpg

A phenomenal first week of jumping for Team DLS back again at Zilveren Spoor in Moorsele, Belgium.

There were so many highlights we're not sure where to start!

David took the victory the Longines Ranking class on Neil Torburns' mare Curly Sue with a fantastic and quick double clear.

Charlene Bastone beat both the bosses on Fyberlinus H, relegating Louise to 2nd place in the Friday Speed Class and knocking David off top spot in the 1m30 final on Saturday, giving DLS multiple 1-2's.

To round off the week DLS completely took over the the leader board in the Grand Prix with four horses in the top five. Louise emerged as the eventual winner with a fantastic round of jumping on First Colt jointly owned by A R A Equestrian and Breen Equestrian.

Many thanks to all the team this week, results like this don’t happen without some serious support. Long may it continue.
