The Bank Holiday weekend saw the DLS team competing on home soil over 5 days at Pyecombe Equestrian Centre.
Kicking off with some solid performances for the young horses, Thursday saw David 3rd in the 4-year-olds with Chantilly 19, 11th with Pjtor Van de Kruishoeve in the 5-year-olds and clear with Jaguar X in the 6YOs. Also in the 4-year-olds, Charlene and Theodoor L38 VD Zuuthoeve Z – the pair taking 9th place.
While the day was mostly for the youngsters, Graham had a stand out performance with Fashion Prince, winning the 1.40, while Daley and G Star Blue were 3rd in the 1.20 Open.
On Friday, David had a 3rd place finish aboard Starrouge in the Foxhunter, while new ride Don Diego took top spot in the 1.30.
Daley took Balloon Cruise to 9th in the Foxhunter and G Star Blue to 5th in the 1.20 Open.
Louise’s top mare Fiona V/H Lemmenhof – in the Charlene’s capable hands – taking 3rd in the 1.20 Open.
New kid on the block, Don Diego V continued to impress on Saturday, finishing 3rd with David in the 1.40.
They narrowly pipped Graham and Franklin who finished 4th in the same class, while Graham’s other rides, Fashion Prince and Matts V.G. finished 6th and 9th respectively.
By Sunday, the team had settled into their groove. David took Starrouge to 6th in the Foxhunter and Amigo to 10th in the 1.30. Charlene and Fiona were again on song, finishing in 2nd spot in the 1.20 Open. Graham took NPS Dangerous to 6th in the same class and went clear in the 1.30 with Calacas D Aubigny. Meanwhile, Antonia was 7th in the 1.30 aboard Marvin van de Waterhoeve.
On Monday, Antonia had lovely round for 7th place in the Discovery with Patton M but the weekend’s feature event was the Grand Prix. David jumped clear only to have one down in the jump off, leaving the prizes for Graham who finished in 1st place with Franklin and 2nd with Fashion Prince.
