In the driving rain on Tuesday, super student Alex was again on form aboard her two youngsters in the 5-year-old class – both Hascombe Verona and Amazing-K Van’t Kattenheye Z clear for equal first place. She and new partner in crime, Conan Doyle – a horse sourced by the DLS team – took on and were clear in their first 4* 1.40 together.
On Wednesday, Alex was again twice clear in the 5-year-olds while David and Kurly V/D Gorten were clear in the 1.35. Thursday brought the chance to qualify for the weekend’s Grand Prix, David and Foudre F didn’t let the opportunity pass them by, finishing in 9th place in the 1.50 class. Meanwhile, Alex was again clear in the 1.40 with Conan Doyle and in the age classes, was clear in the 7-year-olds with Senator’s Rhondiago and in the 5-year-olds with Amazing-K.
The final day drew many of the big names from the world of international showjumping for the feature class – The Ashford Farms 4* 1.55 Grand Prix. Competition was fierce, with just 5 riders clear and into the jump off from a 50 strong start list. Among them, David and Foudre F – who set a blazing pace in the jump off, landing in 2nd place by just 7 hundredths of a second.
